Some of our work
Project: Lesson Plan Update
Client: Nonprofit education team
Problem to solve: Update existing lesson plans for K-12 audience in a way that is digestible and easy for teachers to use.
KTD+ team members: An instructional designer with editorial experience, a designer, and a proofreader worked directly with the client project manager.
Approach: KTD+ ID reviewed existing materials and developed a high-level plan for creating multiple versions of the content for all grade levels (e.g., K-2, G3-5, etc.). Once the plan was approved, the ID adapted the content accordingly. Meanwhile, the designer presented comps of lesson plan samples for review that used the client’s branding and was more classroom friendly and appropriate for each grade band. Once those were approved, the designer formatted the updated content for proofreading, client review and finalization.
Project: Certification Course Development
Client: Trade association education team
Problem to solve: Update existing certification training program to include new topics and update existing ones.
KTD+ team members: Three instructional designers, a copyeditor, a team coordinator/photo researcher, and a project manager worked directly with the client project lead.
Approach: KTD+ team members collaborated with project lead, client SMEs, and each other to develop a program design, updated course content, and ancillary materials (e.g., workbook and PPTs).
Project: Recruiting K-12 Content Developers
Client: K-12 education companies
Problem to solve: Recruiting for large K-12 content development projects.
KTD+ solution: Recruit, vet, and provide K-12 candidates for consideration for specific projects. Examples include: Recruited 8-10 GK-2 science subject matter experts with curriculum and lesson writing experience to work on fast-paced projects for a client; recruited four G3-G5 math subject matter experts to develop lessons and assessments; recruited 12-15 content developers and editors for K-G1 social studies lesson development project that included writing, editing, and creating multimedia and art specs.
Project: Specialized short-term staffing
Client: Several
Problems to solve: Short-term projects that existing staff don’t have capacity or skills to take on.
Sample KTD+ team members and solutions: Storyline developer to provide a “design refresh” to an existing course; two instructional designers provided course design and development for a higher-ed company; a graphic designer provided design and layout for a large volume of downloadable worksheets; an instructional design consultant provided analysis and program design services to a nonprofit.
